Italy - Croatia - Austria

This tour will take you through several countries around the Adriatic Sea, from Italy to Croatia a little bit of Montenegro, Bosnia, and Herzegovina and will end in Austria, in its capital Vienna!  From Turin and Milan, down to two pearls on the costs of the Adriatic Sea, Venice and Dubrovnik and then many nothing less shiny gems like Opatija, Zadar, Sibenik, Split and in Montenegro's Kotor bay, with Our Lady of the Rocks, where we come for an excursion! Tour is designed for a group of pilgrims from Sydney, Australia and we are looking forward to a Holy Masses, prayers, singing, good dinners, and wine and all this with the good people, one can't ask for more!

DAY 1 – Arrival to Milan

Upon arrival at Milan International Airport, you will meet with your tour escort and bus driver!
Your first night in Italy, check in to a hotel.



This morning group will have a private opening Holy Mass at the St. Francis de Sales (or Capella Pinardi)! Later follows the city tour of Turin including the visit to the sites associated with St. Dominic Salvo, and St. John Bosco including the Don Bosco’s rooms, Basilica…learn a lot from Salesian fathers. Also, our visit will include the Museum of Holy Shroud as well as the visit to the church where the copy of the Shroud is exhibited. Some free time in Turin before we head to Milan. The same evening, we are in Milan, check in to hotel, dinner and overnight!



After good night rest, we are on the way to Milan city tour. Here we will visit Il Duomo, Cathedral of Milan, 357 feet high church with 3600 statues of different dimensions, Cathedral from 1386. On our schedule is also a visit to the Sforza castle palace seat of Dukes of Milan, a palace from where today’s Milan originates, and Basilica of St. Ambrosio, walk through the center we see the famous Opera House "Scala." In the afternoon some free time for lunch and shopping before we leave for Venice/Padua, dinner and overnight at the hotel in the area.


DAY 4 – VENICE/PADUA - Excursion to Venice (B; D)

Today is entire day excursion to Venice. Short sail on a water taxi to the city center, St. Marc's square & Cathedral of St. Marc. Sightseeing will include St. Marc Square with the basilica, Bridge of Sighs and a walk to the Grand Canal. After about two hours tour there will have a chance for shopping by Rialto Bridge with hundreds of souvenir shops, restaurants and all the beauty of Venice is ours for the entire afternoon. In the early evening, we will return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.



This morning is dedicated to the city of Padua & Saint Anthony! Many of you know this saint from their visit to Lisbon where his life began, and now you will learn more about his life in Padua & Italy. The city tour will include the Basilica of St. Anthony, Basilica of St. Justina and then some free time for lunch before we head towards Croatia –! Same evening, dinner and overnight in a hotel in Croatia!



Today after a nice and smooth morning in Opatija our first destination in Croatia we will head more to the south, to Dalmatia, Zadar. In the historic town center, one can see about 70 surviving monuments of culture, including the famous church of St. Donat from IX century, the archaeological excavations from the Roman period, Kalelarga, the church of St. Anastasia, various monasteries and Five Wells Square. From the more modern monuments of culture, we will see the Greeting to the Sun and the Sea Organ. Even Alfred Hitchcock, in the early 1960’s proclaimed that Zadar has by far the most beautiful sunsets. We will get to watch one such sunset while enjoying a delicious traditional meal at a konoba (tavern) before heading back to our hotel.



After breakfast, we will head south to enjoy the charms of Šibenik with a morning walk around this old town filled with a vivid, rich history. We will visit St. Jacob’s Cathedral and its beautiful gardens dating back to the middle ages, both under UNESCO protection. After our tour of Šibenik, we will make our way to Dubrovnik, the pearl on Adriatic coast, one of the most popular Mediterranean destinations!  Arrival to Dubrovnik is to be expected on time for dinner! Check in to hotel, dinner and overnight!



After breakfast, we depart for our day trip to Montenegro and the beautiful coastal city of Kotor. Kotor is a city of baroque palaces, famous medieval goldsmiths and master armorers. It is also where one can feel the true spirit of the only fjord in the Mediterranean. We will have lunch in Kotor before making our way back to Dubrovnik for dinner and overnight.



After breakfast, we will embark on a tour of the city that hides a lot of exciting stories within its past and has been under UNESCO protection for more than 30 years. During our visit to the historical town, we will see Stradun, Rector's Palace, St. Francis Church, Sponza Palace, Orlando's Column, the first pharmacy in Europe as well as interesting churches and city streets. Dubrovnik is a treasure and a museum itself, as it has so far managed to preserve all its historic buildings. Lunch in the afternoon will be followed by some free time before we leave for Medjugorje, to Our Lady Queen of Peace! Check in to Medjugorje hotel, dinner, and overnight.



In the morning we will climb the site of the Apparition of Our Lady, hill Podbrdo! Private Holy Mass in Arabic before we join evening prayer services at the St. James church. The same evening, we are at the dinner in a local restaurant where traditional meals will be served, roasted lamb, veal, and great local Herzegovinian wine!



Today group will climb the Cross Mountain – Way of The Cross, Stations of the Cross here end with the most beautiful view of the entire Medjugorje region! Cross on top of the mountain was built 1933/34 and on the feast day of the Exaltation of the Cross faithful gather here for the Holy Mass.  Afternoon free for your personal devotions, lunch, and shopping!



We back to Croatia, our Dalmatian tour continues with the visit to Split before we continue to the capital of Croatia, Zagreb. First stop will be Split, Dalmatia’s capital city. Split emerged around the grandiose palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century. Diocletian's time leads us to the Temple of Jupiter, the vestibule, the Cathedral St. Domnius (Sv. Duje)the Peristil square and historic basements. After free time for lunch, we will continue northwest, to Zagreb! Dinner before we relax and get rest for the following day.


DAY 13 – ZAGREB - city tour of Zagreb – VIENNA, Austria

After the slow and easy morning, we will head towards the city center of Zagreb. City tour of a city of over 900 years of history! Today we start with the city tour of Zagreb; we will start from the Old Town, from Kaptol and St. Stephen's Cathedral - dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady. Morning walking tour will also take us to Gric, second part of old Zagreb, to the chapel of "Majka Bozja od Kamenitih vrata", St. Mark's square with the church of St. Mark, then down to the St. Cyril and St. Methodius church until we reach the Jelacic Square - Zagreb's main square with the equestrian statue of Ban Jelacic. Here we will have a little break, time for some free time and little shopping before we leave Croatia and via Slovenia head to Austria! Hotel in Vienna.


DAY 14 – VIENNA, AUSTRIA, city tour – flight to Holy land, (B; D)

After the slow and easy morning, we will head towards the city center of Vienna. City tour of the capital of the today’s Republic of Austria and once mighty Habsburg Monarchy. City of Strauss and Mozart, the city of the most beautiful architecture as a testimony of once mighty Empire, most significant in Europe for centuries. We see the Karlskirche one of the finest churches of the high baroque period, the Hofburg or the Winter Palace, St. Stephen's Cathedral. You will also visit the Schonbrunn Royal Palace; Belvedere Palace is well known for its beautiful garden and an impressive panoramic view of Vienna and the steeples of St. Stephen's Cathedral.

Farewell dinner, typical Viennese meal & beer before we head to the Vienna Intl. Airport.
