Fatima Lourdes Pilgrimage - Oct. 2017

From Sydney, Australia to Europe on the occasion of the Centennial Anniversary of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima! This pilgrimage will take us from Lisbon, St. Anthony, to Fatima, Santiago de Compostela, Lourdes, Barcelona, Monserrat...and many more destinations! We will enrich our knowledge of the history of Europe, our Catholic foundations, our Faith and our companionship with Jesus and Mary through our daily prayers and inspirational visits to Shrines and sanctuaries. For sure that we will not miss the opportunity to taste a good local food, wines and diverse culture of the countries we will visit here! DAY 01: DEPART FOR PORTUGAL: Oct. 2, 2017
Today you will depart for Europe! Overnight, long transcontinental flight to Portugal, Lisbon!

DAY 02: ARRIVE LISBON: Oct. 3, 2017   
Upon arrival at Lisbon International Airport, we will be welcomed by our guide & bus driver! Our pilgrimage starts with a visit to the St Anthony’s Basilica where St. Anthony of Padua, the patron saint of Portugal, was born. Before we check in to a hotel we see the Belem Tower and the Gothic Monastery of St. Jeronimo.  Overnight stay in Lisbon (D)

DAY 03: ARRIVE LISBON: Oct. 4, 2017   

This morning we will leave Lisbon, head towards Fatima! En route to Fatima, we will visit the Holy Miracle Church of St Stephen at Santarem, the site of oldest recorded Eucharistic miracle. Later in the afternoon we will arrive in Fatima and check in to the hotel.  After the dinner, we will participate in the evening Prayer of the Rosary and candlelight Procession to Our Lady of Fatima! Overnight stay in Fatima (B D)

DAY 04: FATIMA: Oct. 5, 2017   

After breakfast, we will visit the Tombs of the Visionaries of Fatima; the Aljustrel where the children lived; and the Valinhos, where Our Lady appeared after the children’s return from prison. We celebrate Holy Mass at the Little Chapel of Apparitions and join for the Rosary and participate in the candlelight procession in the evening. Overnight stay in Fatima (B D).

DAY 05: FATIMA – COIMBRA – PONTEVEDRA – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA: Oct. 6, 2017   

Today continue our journey to Coimbra to see the Convent where Sr. Lucia lived. Continue to Porto and where we stop for lunch, en route we will visit Pontevedra, a great Spanish Shrine, where we see the magnificent Cathedral, before arriving Santiago for an overnight stay. Overnight stay in Santiago (B D).

DAY 06: SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA: Oct. 7, 2017     

This morning we will see the Cathedral built in honor of St. James, the apostle of Jesus Christ. Then we will visit the tomb of the Apostle, and his disciples St. Theodore and St. Athanasius. We will join with pilgrims from all over the world in celebrating the Pilgrim’s Mass. Continue to the Church of San Francisco, that built in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, after his pilgrimage to this land. Overnight stay in Santiago (B D).

DAY 07: SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA – ALBA DE TORMES – AVILA: Oct. 8, 2017   

Today we drive to Alba de Tormes, home of the Carmelite Monastery founded by St. Teresa. Upon arrival in Alba de Tormes, we will visit this Monastery where St. Teresa died and was buried. We will also visit the small museum dedicated to St. Teresa of Avila, which holds her incorrupt heart and left arm. Overnight stay in Avila (B D).

DAY 08: AVILA – SEGOVIA – AVILA: Oct. 9, 2017  

After an early breakfast, we continue to Avila to visit the Convent of the Incarnation where St. Theresa lived, wrote books and experienced mystical revelations. Visit the museum that is built upon the home of St. Teresa that contains her relics and that of St. John of the Cross. We finally visit Basilica of St.  Vincent, which stands on the site of the saint’s martyrdom. In the afternoon, we will make our way to Segovia to visit one of the great mystics of our tradition – St. John of the Cross. We will visit the sepulcher of St. John of the Cross, the great Gothic cathedral, and famous Alcazar Castle. Overnight stay in Avila (B D).

DAY 09: AVILA – MADRID – ZARAGOZA: Oct. 10, 2017   

Today we proceed to Madrid, en route stop for a short break at the world-famous Monastery of El Escorial (no entrance) and the Valley of the Fallen, where a gigantic cross and a cavernous basilica carved into a rocky hillside. Continue with a Madrid city tour to visit Puerta del Sol, Retiro Park, Plaza de Espana, and the Royal Palace (no entrance).  Later in the afternoon, we continue our journey to the Zaragoza for an overnight stay. Overnight stay in Zaragoza (B D).

DAY 10: ZARAGOZA – LOURDES: Oct. 11, 2017   

This morning we proceed to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, the place where Mary appeared to the Apostle James before her Assumption into heaven.  Continue to visit the Cathedral of La Seo, built initially as a mosque that mergers Gothic and Baroque architecture with a uniquely Spanish form called Mudejar.  We will continue to visit Santa Engracia Basilica, which has the bones of martyrs killed by the Romans in 303 A.D. In the afternoon we will journey to Lourdes through the beautiful landscape of the Pyrenees in southern France. Upon our arrival at Lourdes, we will check into our hotel. This evening we are welcome to join the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament and the Blessing of the Sick. After dinner, we return to the Grotto of Lourdes for the Rosary and Candlelight Procession. Overnight stay in Lourdes (B D).

DAY 11: LOURDES: Oct. 12, 2017  

This morning we begin with a walking tour of Lourdes to visit the Upper & Lower Basilicas; the Grotto of Massabielle; Boly Mill, the birthplace of St. Bernadette; and Cachot, the home of St. Bernadette at the time of the apparitions. The rest of the day is free for Adoration, Confessions, private devotion, reciting the Rosary and bathing in the miraculous spring. This
evening we may again participate in the Candlelight Procession. Overnight stay in Lourdes (B.D).

DAY 12: LOURDES – MANRESA – BARCELONA: Oct. 13, 2017   

After early breakfast, we journey back to Spain, to Catalonia to Barcelona! En route we will stop at the town of Manresa where St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, spent months in prayer and meditation and where he wrote his “Spiritual Exercises”. Once we arrive in Barcelona, we will have a chance to explore Barcelona, a panoramic bus tour of Barcelona, Columbus Monument, Montjuic, Mila House and other landmarks as an introduction of our two nights stay here! Overnight stay in Barcelona. (B D)

DAY 13: BARCELONA – excursion to MONTSERRAT, Oct. 14, 2017

This morning we will continue our pilgrimage tour, head towards the incredible mountain sanctuary, Our Lady of Montserrat! Cable car for the thrilling experience of the view as we will be reaching rock on top of which is a breathtaking Sanctuary with the monastery and church hosting the statue of Our Lady of Montserrat.  In the afternoon after 3 – 4 hours with Our Lady of Montserrat we are back to Barcelona! Later afternoon a walking tour with our guide along the Old Barcelona with emphasis on La Rambla street and gothic Barcelona. Dinner and overnight in Barcelona! (B D)

DAY 14: MONTSERRAT – BARCELONA, Oct. 15, 2017

After breakfast, we check out from the hotel and head to last morning in Barcelona! We will visit the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, and here have our closing Holy Mass for this pilgrimage!  In the afternoon transfer to the International Airport of Barcelona. (B)
